I asked whether the coolant should be changed and was told that it’s not. Necessary as the system is sealed for life and Vw have not included a coolant change in the service schedule.

Hi I’m going to replace my heater matrix, I know how to do it following a video of removing glovebox and blower etc, I tired the route of flushing back and forth for a long time and it never ends getting cack out of it lol.
For engine oil the maintenance manual recommends either 5w30 or 5w40 synthetic oil. Typically other manufacturers will state to use an alternative oil until the next oil change (i.e. use 5w30 if no 5w40 is available, but change back to 5w40 in the next oil change) or something similar. Looks like VW didn't make up their mind in this one.
